A bit about me. .
Hey there! I’m Carly, an Accredited Practising Dietitian with a genuine love for helping people create a healthier, more relaxed relationship with food.
My journey into dietetics started with a fascination of how, what we eat affects not just our bodies, but also our minds and overall well-being. Over the years, I’ve worked alongside people facing all sorts of challenges, from managing chronic conditions to navigating emotional and disordered eating.
What I Do
Apart from the general side of dietetics, my passion for mental health led me to focus on a few key areas:
Eating disorders: I support individuals in their recovery from eating disorders, my approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies, focusing on nourishment, self-compassion and rebuilding a positive relationship with food and body
Disordered & emotional eating: I help people to break free from restrictive and disordered eating patterns and address emotional triggers. Developing healthier coping strategies and reconnecting with your body’s cues to create calm around food
Mental Health: I provide nutritional support tailored to mental health needs, understanding the crucial connection between food, mood and overall well-being
Food is about more than just nutrients - it’s part of our daily lives and experiences. My passion is to guide you towards a more balanced and intuitive approach to eating, so you are empowered and at ease in your nutritional choices.
I also regularly engage in clinical supervision to ensure I provide the highest standard of care to my clients. This improves my duty of care in safe and ethical practice and supports my professional growth.
My Approach
I work from a Health at Every Size® (HAES®) model, which means I prioritise your overall well-being and focus on improving health behaviours rather than a weight centric approach. I also adopt a Non-Diet approach, helping you build a healthier relationship with food, by moving away from restrictive diets and towards a more intuitive, balanced way of eating. My goal is to provide compassionate and evidence-based support that respects your unique body and experiences.
Outside of Work
When I’m not thralled in the appetising world of dietetics or working on my business, you’ll likely find me enjoying the beauty of the Redcliffe Peninsula. I love heading down to the beach to relax with a puzzle book or jumping in my kayak for some time on the water. I’m also a mega foodie at heart and love getting lost in the kitchen, trying out new recipes and experimenting with fresh ideas.
Fun Facts!
What’s the one food you could never give up, no matter what?
Coriander! If only I could grow this with ease. . .I’d hate to think how much money I spend on this herb.
If you could have dinner with any chef/food personality, who would it be?
Nagi Maehashi! Oh, the hours in the kitchen with Dinner and Tonight - she’s changed my life.
What’s your favourite go-to meal when you’re short on time?
The grab and go staples - Tuna can, crackers, cheese slices, carrots, fresh fruit and some nuts.
